The History of the Steiner Family |
Herman and Abigail Steiner opened their first hair salon in 1934, in London, and developed their own range of hair care products. The artistic flair of Herman won him the royal appointment, which led to them opening Steiner Hair Salons in every major city in England.
In 1947 Steiner opened the first maritime salon on board the Queen Mary and in 1967, Steiner gained the contract to operate the salon onboard the prestigious QE11.
In 1994 Steiner acquired Coiffeur Transocean Ltd, it’s largest competitor at sea and became Steiner Transocean Ltd. In 1996 Steiner Leisure Ltd, the parent company of Steiner Transocean, grew from a private company into a public company quoted on the NASDAQ market and in 2001 Steiner acquired Mandara Spas, a resort group with nearly 50 resort spas across Asia and throughout the US.
Today, Steiner has become increasingly involved in the design of spas and operates spas onboard over 116 luxury cruise ships. Facilities vary from ship to ship, including sophisticated therapies like Thalassotherapy Thermal Suits, Hydrotherapy, Dry Floatation treatments and the Rasual. All ships offer a varied selection of Steiner signature services, all taught here at our London Training Academy.
Herman and Abigail Steiner offered their clients the highest standards of service and were intent on being the best. Today we have the same commitment.
