Kerry joined the Steiner Training Academy 6 years ago, embarking on a career that would not only allow her to work within her profession (hairdresser), but one that she felt highly motivated and passionate about. Kerry realised she was about to embark on a career that would allow her to explore new travel destinations, experience new cultures, make global friendships all whilst being paid to live and work onboard a luxury cruise ship.

Working as a part of the Steiner Spa team, Kerry soon saw a whole new horizon of experiences and opportunities. After her first contact she realized that a management position was her direction. She spent the next 3 contracts gaining experience as a senior stylist and as an assistant manager, increasing her knowledge of what it takes to effectively run a Spa from a business angle and polishing up on her leadership and team building skills.

In November 2003 Kerry took on the position of Spa Manager on the Vision of the Seas. Her first contract in management was completed 6 months later and then in 2004-2005 she took another management contract onboard the Brilliance of the Seas.

After her 6th year at sea it was time to regain her “land legs” in her home country of Australia and Kerry became the Regional Recruitment Manger in Australia.

What you need?

QUALIFICATIONS

Hairdresser- cert 3 qualification or above,

Barbers- Nationally recognised Course Certificate.

Beauty Therapist -cert 4 or Diploma of Beauty Therapy (must cover body massage and facial/body electrics),

Massage Therapist -cert 4 or Diploma Fitness Instructor-21yrs and above, Cert 4 in Personal Training, Freestyle Aerobics qualification (options available through the company for those possessing only PT qualifications)

Receptionists – Spa background (2^nd Language highly desirable, particularly Spanish)

Nail Technicians- Cert 2 or above (must cover acrylics/manicures and pedicures)

Australia and New Zealand are still relatively new recruitment areas, although we have seen a fantastic growth in successful applicants for the past 3 years. We can contribute this to the outstanding educational facilities that allow Steiner to hold seminars to the students regarding career opportunities at sea.  Janine is re-locating to New Zealand for 2006 to improve and develop these opportunities to New Zealanders and the Education facilities. Hairdressers and Fitness Instructors from Australia and New Zealand have found tremendous success and wealth at sea – So, if you are one of these professions you should definitely send in your application NOW!! Specialised training is provided to all successful applicants at the Steiner training academy situated in London.

Career opportunities also exist for those team members wishing to pursue advancement. Whether it is promotion into a Spa Management or working in one of our land-based spas throughout the world. Locations such as Las Vegas, Hawaii, Dubai or London may be your calling.
